Fergie's Blog

Hello Puppy Parents,
My name is Fergie, Duchess of Oak Street, and I am the face and “barque” of Barque  Canine Couture. Aren’t I cute…all 3 pounds of me?
Welcome to my Blog. I will keep you posted on Barque news, my life, and dog fashions and trends.
First I will tell you the story of Barque:
Since I was a puppy, I have loved to walk the fashionable streets of Chicago wearing the chicest dog fashions. My mom, the former model and designer, took me everywhere searching for the best, hippest, coolest, and most stylish puppy clothes. It was always a hassle and time-consuming and I seldom found what I wanted.
So, I “barqued” at my mom and we started Barque Canine Couture for the esthetically independent and stylish dogs. They are usually more sophisticated and “get it,” style that is. Being a modest yorkie, I hate to go out undressed. Whether going to the park, to Oak Street, or Michigan Avenue, I am passionate about dressing appropriately for every single occasion. Since Barque came to be, I get to model every new garment and if they look great on me, I beg mom to let me have one, preferably with my name on it. The truth is that I look good in everything as I have a couture body. You never know when you’ll run into a photographer, and I get stopped all the time to pose; therefore, I must always look my best.
I have a BFF named Olga Honeey BouBoo and we like to do things together. You’ll be hearing more about her later. Have to run to Top Dog for a spa day to prepare for the Barque Trunk Show at Neiman Marcus. I have to look my very best Saturday.
I’ll catch you later…
XOXO Fergie

OMD (Oh My Dog)! It has been a busy autumn for my company, Barque. I have been working super hard to prepare for the holiday special events. To bring you up to date, in September Barque had a trunk show at Neiman Marcus on Michigan Avenue. It was so much fun; I met lots of people and barked at lots of dogs. It was amazing to see all the other dogs trying on and buying new outfits. I also did some modeling along with Olga Honeey Bouboo. It feels great knowing other dogs who are as passionate as I am about dressing up and looking their best. And what can be better than hanging out at Neiman Marcus trying on clothes all day? My BFF Olga Honeey Bouboo and her mom love Barque and come to all the events to help out. Olga is sooooooo funny and cute. She is a big dog, about 6 pounds, and has pretty curly hair. She is a toy poodle which I guess means she is very smart like I am. She and I have play dates all the time and are always causing trouble. Our moms  tell us to behave when we get out of hand, but fun is fun! Olga and I keep begging our moms to buy us a hot pink Mini Cooper Convertible, but so far they won't do it. We are keeping our paws crossed for the upcoming howliday season.

Speaking of howliday gifts, Barque will be featured at events throughout the Chicagoland area in November and December. Take a look at our Events Page where you will find a calendar with a list of upcoming special events. Please come and shop with Olga and me this fall season and see what Chicago's best dressed pups are wearing.

Will catch up with you later.

Best,

Fergie, Duchess of Oak Street

"Santa Paws" is coming to town...oy, I cannot get that song out of my head. I love the holiday season, and this one (my 2nd) has been fun and busy. My calendar has been filled with puptail parties and, of course, many special holiday shopping events that featured Barque. We show at holiday boutiques across Chicagoland, including Saint Chrysostom in the Gold Coast, Woodlands Academy in Lake Forest, Beth Shalom in Northbrook and the fab Elements in River North. I love to shop so helping your persons pick out gifts for every variety of my 4-legged friends is a blast! Barque's exclusive collection features items for every personality and occasion and weather extreme. Some examples are raincoats, snowsuits, holiday dresses, and cool weekend denims. I'm sure you'll love your Barque gifts.

Check out the Barque website and pick out your faves. I'd love to know what you've chosen. Please e-mail my mom with your choices...gay@barque.biz.

I'll catch up with you soon. Until then, have a fabulous howliday season. I hope you receive everything you wished for.

XOXO

Dear Fellow and Gal Pupsters,

What a beautiful day for meeting friends in the park. And I did! I met Fresca the "regular" and adorable yorkie, Mimi the shy and precious silkie, and Audrey (Hepburn) the very special black pug. I loved playing and gossiping with them. They were not dressed, but I had on my denim trench coat and was tres chic! I changed to my black leather motorcycle vest to go have my mom's car washed. I looked great in our black car.

My BFF Olga Honeey Bou Boo came over for a play date Sunday and the two of us took our moms to the park. It was so funny because we both had on our Barque euphoria denim vests. We were almost like twins, except Olga is an apricot poodle. My vest has an "I Love Me" button on it in addition to the colorful daisies.

Mom is planning a Barque Canine Couture trunk show at Top Dog Day Care on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday April 11 from 1-4pm. I love to meet and talk to all the customers. I also model some of the adorable clothes and so does Olga. What a team! Hope to see you there.

Love,

Fergie, Duchess of Oak Street

Hi Kids,

I have soooooo much to tell you. Mom and I were in the park last week visiting with dogs and their people, only to learn that there was a doggy party going on at a local bar. We immediately went with this big dog to the party and it was a blast; every kind of dog running around on the back patio and all the moms drinking and gossiping. We couldn't stay too long as mom had an appointment. But well worth the walk.

My BIG news is that I had my second birthday last week. My mom and Olga's mom, Linda threw me a great party at Top Dog, our doggy daycare. We had a Barque trunk show too which lot's of my friends attended. Olga and I wore our Barque teeshirts as did a lot of the grownups. Don't have the pictures yet. Linda made a doggy cake with her secret recipe and the moms had delicious people cake. They also had our famous Rin Tin Tinis - what a blast, so they say! Everybody sang happy birthday and then we played in the playroom together. I'll never forget my 2nd birthday. THANKS, MOM. XOXOXO

I have a new friend named Molly. She's this 7 month old basset hound and she's as long as a mile. What a great personality and fun to be with. Her parents bought her this amazing rockstar denim vest that was made for Bella who was one of the stars of our first fashion show. It's denim with lots of doodads, pins, embroidery, appliques, and a hanging diamante dog bone. Boy does Molly look cool in this one-of-a-kind runway piece.

My good friend Gigi just got a black Soho slicker just like mine. It looks great on both of us, and wonder of wonders Palani, one of my boyfriends at Top Dog who is a VERY handsome, also has this very hip rain slicker. We all love it. Will have to call the photographer to get a great shot of the small (that's me,) medium (that's Gigi) and large (that's Palani.) I'll post some pictures of all of us ASAP. Later, dudes.

Hi All,
Isn't the summer awesome? I love going to the park and playing with my friends and neighbors. Some dogs are off their leash, and they make me nervous because they usually get wild and run all over, and over me!!! I'm still the smallest dog in the Gold Coast and people always ask if I'm a puppy. Now that I'm over 2 years old I will not grow any bigger; I've already outgrown some of my favorite little puppy clothes. Sooooooooooooo Cute!
I went to the Farmers' Market today in Lincoln Park with my mom and Auntie Honey. Boy was it hot; however, I loved seeing all the babies and dogs, although their people weren't very friendly like I'm used to. I crave attention and wish I could sing or dance. I know mom would let me audition for "American Idol." Adam Lambert was on a rerun today of Oprah. Even though he came in second on Idol he is now a major STAR.
It's time for my snack and then my afternoon nap. Speak to you soon.
XOXO
Fergie, DOOS
